About a month ago, I sold a pair of expensive designer jeans on ebay. A buyer from overseas contacted me and asked me to end the auction early for $40 (considerably higher than what they would have sold for- the highest bid was $10 so far). I agreed and sent her the jeans. I took multiple pictures of the jeans before sending them to document their condition, since I thought it was a bit strange that the buyer offered to pay so much.
About a week after the buyer received the jeans, she emailed me back with a very aggressive e-mail saying she wanted a full refund because the jeans were “horrendously destroyed and used.” Based on the pictures I took, and my own knowledge knowing that these jeans were brand new- I was surprised at this e-mail.
I responded and said she could send them back, but I will not reimburse her for shipping costs since these jeans were not used or worn. It has been TWO WEEKS since I e-mailed her, and I just received an e-mail from her asking what my return address is. If she was so horrified with the jeans, you would assume she would have sent them back immediately or asked for my address (the return address is right on the packing slip and box, so there’s no excuse for her e-mailing me asking for the address).
Any thoughts on what I should do about this situation? I have asked her twice to open a PayPal dispute so this can be documented, but she will not. Should I still accept the jeans back, even though it has been so long?

What you did on ebay is against their rules. She won’t open a paypal dispute because basically she is not covered since she bought off ebay. I would tell her so sorry, there was nothing wrong with the jeans when you sent them and if they weren’t insured you are not responsible for what happened to them in transit. She has no recourse against you. From now on don’t do this on ebay, you can get suspended for doing this. If someone wants to make an offer, revise your item and put a buy it now on the item or just tell them to bid along with everyone else. It’s not worth losing your ebay account for 30 bucks. BTW I sell clothing all the time on ebay with little problems. You just happened to get a scammer, but the funny part is she screwed herself by purchasing off ebay. Make sure you save that email in case she tries to open a dispute on paypal, but I doubt she will, since she knows she is not covered any longer.

No, don’t accept them back.
I think she’s trying to scam you and she could have already worn them herself!
Sounds like a scammer to me…
Ignore her if she won’t open a paypal dispute and if she leaves you negative feedback just ask ebay to remove it and send them the aggresive E-mail you recieved from her.

NO, big fat upper case no. This is a classic case of where one party member buys nice clothes from Ebay to wear to a special occasion and then refunds them once the night is over. If you know that the jeans where new condition and she is saying they are ruined, you know she is faking it. Right?
Don’t accept, Don’t refund her. Report her to Ebay.

That *****.
Here are a few situations:
1.Maybe the mail delivery man opened the box and trashed the jeans…
2. She is scamming you.
If any possibility that one of your friends or family members live near her town/city, send them to her house and tell her to show the jeans.

no because if he pays for shipping basically he is losing money by the time you gets the jeans back,
however he could wreck the jeans purposely, then you could take to court claiming that when you sent them they were perfectly fine and show them the pictures.

hell yeah she’s trying to scam you… you provided pictures, they made a purchase outside of ebay’s guidelines AND they don’t want to get paypal involved?
scammer… probably has the same jeans she messed up and is trying to get a free pair.

First of all, you can be suspended for what youve done.
You cannot end an auction early and sell it to someone like that. Here’s why.
Youve used Ebay to advertise your item, and then cancelled the auction.
They get nothing out of it, for their service.
Also, youre not convered under Ebay now, since you actually sold the item privately.
My girlfriend sold clothes on Ebay, and it was just one big huge headache all the time.
The clothes ” dont fit”, ” dont look good” “have flaws that really arent there”
Sometimes they ruin new things, and send them back worn
Always put.. ” Ask before you bid” ” I do not accept returns”
On her end..she cant leave you negative feedback.
You should just email her back and say, its been too long and I wont accept
returns after 2 weeks. She got the item. She wont open a Paypal dispute
She has no leverage.
You have all the power
( and they will prob send you back a diff pair of jeans)
