He gave his cell number and said if interested to call him. All offers would be considered. So we did and we worked out a deal outside of the auction. He promised to end the auction after we sent the money via MoneyGram. He ended the auction and picked up the money. He was to call us back within the hour to provide a tracking number. He never did. His cell went straight to voicemail (which was full so we couldnt leave a message) for 2 days. I have his name, his cell number, an address (not sure if it is really his). I have contacted the FTC, National Fraud Information Center, Internet Crime Complaint Center, and filed a police report with my county. What else can I do?!? Trust me, hubby got an ear full for sending a complete stranger $2,000 via MoneyGram. He feels pretty crunchy about it. Anyway, to add on to this the ebay seller tried selling the same rims in another auction in which he had a “winner”. I immediately contacted this “winner” and warned him. (cont.)

Contact eBay ASAP, using the dispute resolution section.. They are going to counsel you about the dangers of using a Western Union Money Gram as well, but they will investigate, and suspend or close the seller’s account.
You will probably have to take the seller to court in their state to recover charges. Ebay also has a fraud investigation department that works with local police in instances like this.

This is something you need to contact EBay about and let them resolve it. Believe me, they want happy customers on both sellers and buyers and the will deal with it harshly and fairly

Report this to e-bay.

I don’t use e-bay for this very reason. eBay has rules that say you cannot sue, you must only use their complaint system to note the problem and possibly they will recover it for you.

Did you at least report him to PayPal and EBay as well?

I agree with Dog lover…..Ebay is a great site to buy/sell from, but this stuff happens….I’d call Ebay and tell them what happened and have them do something. Especially since this is alot of money….good luck

Guess you didn’t bother to read the Ebay rules about not making deals outside the Auction, huh?
You have been scammed by the many that come on Ebay to bilk the gullible.
I am a fairly regular seller on Ebay and you should see what comes at me from these freaks.
Don’t even bother to try to find this person…he or she has already moved on to a new identity, new throw-away cell fone, new account on Ebay….they make their living doing this and are impossible to catch up with.
Use your head next time and stick with Ebay rules….you will have NO problems if you do that.

I’m sure you’ve seen the ad for Pay Pal. If you deal with something that doesn’t guarantee protection, you’re going to lose. Report it to Ebay. Good luck.
